Criticisms and Scientific Controversies Surrounding the Tayyibat Diet
Criticisms of the Tayyibat Diet
Dr. Diaa El-Awady’s system has been strongly criticized due to its prohibitions, such as the banning of poultry, eggs, and milk, and many questions have been raised regarding the use of foods considered harmful, such as sugar and fats, within a system that aims to treat several chronic diseases, including diabetes and heart disease.
According to Dr. Diaa El-Awady, not everything that tastes good is necessarily beneficial or suitable for us. There is no such thing as “healthy food,” “harmful food,” or food that is universally beneficial for specific diseases.
Foods have direct effects on the immune system and the body. For example, if we consume very spicy or fatty food, we may develop a headache, facial redness, and increased breathing rate.
This means that the body is reacting, and the immune system is being rapidly activated, indicating that it is alerting us to a problem with that food. This rapid response shows that the immune system is in a state of alert and activity.
Therefore, when we talk about “healthy eating,” the concept itself is not precise, because there is no food that is absolutely good or bad for human consumption. For this reason, even the rules and standards used to avoid certain foods depend on how the body reacts to them .
Based on this, Dr. El-Awady states that sugar is allowed in moderation, while white flour is prohibited. He supports some items and restricts others based on the human body’s response.
